We have all been guilty of muttering the words "I'm too busy" or "I don't have enough time".
It's funny that somehow, despite all the time-saving technologies that have been invented, we still struggle to grasp the fleeting hours as they pass us by.
Personally, I find it hard to relax at the end of each day without wondering if I'm wasting precious time.
I think of the long list of items that I should probably be doing instead, knowing full well that I wont feel like completing such mundane tasks on the weekend.
If only there were more hours in the day.
On the other hand, when I find myself another year older, I realise that the time I once had has now melted through my fingers.
We always think that either too much time has passed or there is not enough time in the future.
In my opinion, Time is rather childish. It runs away from us when we need it to do chores, exercise and the fun things in life, but chases us at birthdays when our cake is covered by more and more candles.
Time also likes to sneak in some grey hairs, wrinkles and aching joints here and there, to remind us that even when its hiding, it really isn't that far away.
I sometimes wish that Time would stop playing games and just grow up. Then, whenever chores or exercise need to be done, it'd be there tapping me on the shoulder to remind me of its presence.
Of if I need to squeeze in catch-ups with family or friends, it would be circling the most suitable dates on the calendar for me.
Although, I guess as each birthday rolled by, I'd want Time to just leave me alone.
But whether you're freaking out about too much time passing or not having enough to do everything you want to do, the trick is to remember that Time's nothing more than an illusion.
Time didn't even exist until humans slapped a lable on its back and counted the steps it took.
How else could the world be created in "seven days" and still incorporate the millions of years that dinosaurs roamed the Earth? In reality, one day could have been made up of 10 million years to humans, rather than the 24 hours we know it by today.
Maybe we need to stop measuring the minutes and honouring the hours and enjoy each moment as we live it, rather than constantly worrying about what lies ahead.
Let's simply prioritise the things in life that make us happy, rather than complaining that we don't have time to do them.
The chores can wait.
So when we feel like stuff isn't getting done or our lives are passing too quickly, we shouldn't blame Time.
After all, its doesn't really exist.
im a big believer in focusing on the here and now. not spending time in my head worrying about the past or future. it makes life so much more enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteim the opposite when it comes to relaxing- i find it difficult to do mundane chores when i could be having a bubble bath!
